Twice a year for four years, I edited the member magazine of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA). NESEA’s mission is to advance the adoption of sustainable energy practices in the built environment, by connecting industry professionals to ideas and to each other. I was very proud to be a part of doing that. The challenge for me was to bring a high editorial standard to a publication written by people who are at the top of their field regionally and even globally, but are not professional writers. And to do it on a nonprofit’s budget. I learned a great deal from the architects, engineers, builders, and developers I edited—and my notion of the ideal home changed considerably. I remain a NESEA member.
